THE MISSION
OF THE LUTHERAN CHURCH IS TO PROVIDE:
1. A developmentally appropriate
program of educational excellence;
2. Intentional daily Christian
nurture of faith development;
3. Evangelistic outreach particularly
to the unchurched;
4. Safe, loving, trustworthy service
to the community.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Holy Cross Preschool Learning Center was established
in 1969 and continues to provide a Christian Learning Environment for
the children of the community. The purpose of our preschool is to
provide the children with a Christian education in order to nurture
their social, intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual
development. In accomplishing this, we will provide excellence in
education with experiences and activities, which are designed to be
developmentally appropriate. We appreciate the uniqueness of each
individual child; and, through our learning environment, we encourage
the development of a positive self-concept and an early love of
learning.

NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
Holy Cross Preschool Learning Center admits students
of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights,
privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made
available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on basis
of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its
educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs,
and athletic and other school-administered programs.

HOME-SCHOOL COMMUNICATION
We try to work closely with our parents and keep them
informed of our activities so you can participate and follow through at
home. A monthly newsletter will be sent home. There may also be
information posted on our Message Board outside the classrooms for you
to read. Occasionally morning coffees are held in the Church Fellowship
Hall for parents to share and get acquainted with each other while the
children are in school. We ask your help once each year for a small
fundraiser to help keep our equipment updated and new.

WE ARE A TEAM!
THE WINNER – YOUR CHILD!
If you notice a problem developing, share it with us.
Perhaps it’s not a problem at all, maybe just a misunderstanding or an
oversight. Let’s not lose sight of the fact that we are dealing with
three, four and five year old children and we do not expect them to
behave as other than three, four or five year olds.

INSURANCE
Your child is covered by "In school accident
insurance" from the time they arrive for school until they leave school
shortly after noon each school day. Our insurance does not allow us to
leave our campus with the students. Therefore, we don’t take any field
trips. We do bring lots of programs, guest speakers and shows to our
school.

OUR DISCIPLINE PHILOSOPHY
We believe in positive reinforcement of a child’s
good behavior. Our staff will strive to provide love, understanding,
listening, encouragement, reassurance and a tender touch. The staff will
use positive reinforcement principles to discipline children. Usually
reasoning with a child will suffice in case of unacceptable behavior.
There may be an occasion when a child needs to be separated from the
group to re-direct his/her attention; this time out period is to be very
limited and would allow the child to relax and then rejoin the group. A
teacher or director may elect to speak with the parent (s) if she feels
a follow-up is necessary.

SCHOOL HOURS
8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, Friday
School is in session August through May excluding
holidays and teachers workdays. Our school calendar corresponds as
closely as possible to the public school system.
Please do not bring children to school before 8:30
a.m. The teachers are in earlier, but must prepare materials for the
day’s work. Be sure to pick up your child by noon. We are teaching
children good habits. The things they learn here will carry over to
their school years. Being on time is a good and necessary habit. Please
have your child here by 8:30 a.m. and pick them up promptly.
