SNACK

Each morning we have snack time at school. Please keep the snack ‘to a snack’ not a lunch. A piece of fruit or cookies and drink are more than enough. A whole sandwich is too much. If you do send a half of sandwich and drink, please do not send fruit and cookies also. Also, please do not send marshmallows, squeeze yogurts, peanuts, candy, soda or extremely messy foods.

BIRTHDAYS AND HOLIDAYS

If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday in school, please make arrangements with the teacher ahead of time. The Board of Health will not permit us to serve home baked goods. Any foods you bring must be accompanied with a sales slip, which you must sign and we must keep on file. We also celebrate most of the holidays during the school year. If you’d like to contribute to our many holiday parties, please let the teacher know.

In consideration of the children’s feelings – Birthday Party Invitations will not be distributed at school (unless the whole school is invited). We will provide you with an address list of the students.

SUPPLIES

On the first day of school, each child should have:

1. Snack and juice or milk – in a lunchbox (including a napkin and straw if necessary).

2. Paint shirt or apron – to be left at school and labeled with child’s name.

EMERGENCY INFORMATION

It is extremely important that your child’s emergency information be kept up to date at all times. We depend on this information when we need to reach you should your child become ill or receive an injury during school hours. A child must be sent home with fever, rash, or obvious signs of illness. Please list names (on the emergency card) of persons who can come and get your child in case of emergency (when we cannot reach you).

Please notify us if your child has any health problems, i.e. asthma, diabetes, kidneys, allergies – especially to insect stings – also any eye or ear conditions which should be noted on our emergency sheets and cards. Significant food allergies should also be noted on your card.

INSURANCE

Your child is covered by "In school accident insurance" from the time they arrive for school until they leave school shortly after noon each school day. Our insurance does not allow us to leave our campus with the students. Therefore, we don’t take any field trips. We do bring lots of programs, guest speakers and shows to our school.

CLOTHING

Please let your child wear comfortable, washable clothing. The kinds of activities we pursue involve sitting on the floor, playing in the sandbox, climbing on the monkey bars, running, skipping, finger painting and many other active and sometimes "messy" projects. A pair of tennis shoes, low oxfords, or closed toe shoes give the child the kind of footing necessary for some of our activities, while boots, open toe sandals, "jellies", patent leather shoes and thongs do not.

SCHOOL SHIRTS

You may purchase shirts with our school logo. These are available at the school. We wear our shirts on Fridays. You may also wear our school colors of red and yellow on Friday.

STAY AND PLAY

Each Wednesday afternoon we offer an extended play period to allow you extra time if you have late appointments. There are a limited number of spaces for this program so you must sign up each week in advance. There is a nominal fee charged and you may send a lunch that day…except on the last Wednesday of the month. We will serve Pizza that day. There will be an extra charge for our Pizza Day unless you’ve signed up for at least one other Stay & Play that month.

DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP STUDENTS

Please park to the south of the church when dropping off or picking up children. The main reason for this is safety. The second reason is the moment your car appears, the children become excited and sometimes cause an upset in our final project – whatever it may be. DO NOT PARK IN "HANDICAP PARKING" AREAS – unless you have a proper tag; in the "RESERVED" space; or in front of the flags - this is a fire zone.

In the morning, walk your child all the way to his/her classroom door where a teacher will greet you. At noon, please wait in front of the church doors and we will dismiss the children one by one to walk on the sidewalk to you. You are welcome to come and speak to the teachers after all the children have been dismissed. Remember, we will only allow your child to leave with you or a person authorized on your emergency card. You may schedule any conference with teachers after 12:30 p.m., when children are dismissed. A late fee will be charged if you arrive after 12:30 p.m. to pick up your child.

STUDENT WITHDRAWAL

In case of voluntary withdrawal, it is necessary to notify the school in writing, one month in advance. Lack of notification will result in forfeiture of the May tuition.

PLACEMENT OF STUDENTS

To start, students will be placed in classes according to their chronological age. As the year progresses, children may be transferred to another class in order to better meet their needs.

VISITING

Please feel free to visit and inquire about our program at any time. We have an open-door policy. When visiting our center the first time, we encourage you to bring your child along. Once you have enrolled your child with us, we will celebrate many special events at school. We always ask for a few volunteer parents to spend those days with us. Your help is important to us!
